I know this is not about fishing but in a way I am setting bait out trying to attract something. He!He!

Just set my feeders out yesterday and just asking if anyone has seen them around yet.

A couple of times I have been out on the river and the little guys have come along and checked out my orange suffix line. They are definitely here.

I put my feeder up near the blackberries and honeysuckles...have had about a dozen of the little rascals visiting so far. I just love them; they're so "tame" that they'll zip up and feed from it with me standing not 5 feet away. The other day I was outside and one swooped right up to me (I think it was checking out the bright red shirt I was wearing); at first I thought it was a big bug, and almost swatted it since it was only inches from my face LOL.

Saw one little green one on the west end of clinton lake hitting some flowers when I was bowfishing a couple days ago. It took me a second to realize what it was since it's been so long, but it was cool to watch it buzz around for a little while.

Not to hijack the thread but can anyone suggest some ways to attract them to the feeder? I know they are around here but we've only seen one at the feeder so far this year and none last year. Previous to that we had loads of them. The feeder hangs on the outside edge of the front porch where it's always been and even though the nectar never goes down we put fresh in every couple of weeks.
We live about 30 miles north of indianapolis.
Thanks...W

I always thought the same ones came back year after year but I don't know if thats true. I don't know how to attract them, usually you just put up the feeder and they somehow find it.

We have dozens of them little guys buzzing around the house. According to my wife the secret to attracting and keeping them around is….use a good feeder and syrup mix, keep the feeders in a shady area and keep the feeders full.

I would start by using that map posted above, and keep track of where the birds are in the spring. I would have my feeder up when the get there, no a month later. second, I would use some red handkerchiefs tied in a flower like (roundish) shape. put 3-5 of these around your feeder in the spring to get the birds attention. Then once they find the feeder, keep it full. Biggest mistake most people make is putting the feeder out too late, and for most of america, May is too late.

We saw quite a few hummingbirds in Warsaw a couple weeks ago. I took Richard to Springfield, MO, and we stopped and visited some friends in Warsaw. His first time at Bass Pro Shop down there. He loved it!!
