As much as everyone would like to have caught that fish, it's good to see a monster like that one have a chance to pass on the genes that let him grow to that size. Means there will be more chances to catch a big one in the future.

"Now that is what you call a Salmon"!

But I agree with Tom (Plumbertom1), I'm glad that the fish was caught in that way & now with a rod & reel, by someone that would have just killed the fish for whatever reason & by doing so, also killed off a small piece of our fishing future.

Thanks for sharing that with us all Jordan.

Yea Gary - I wish that you could make the trip - I enjoyed fishing & talking fishing with you as well. But I'm glad to know that that pole can be of use to ya Buddy & I hope that you are getting a lot of Flathead Bait with it.

Nice post buddy. I'm glad the salmon are being protected. Things could have gotten a lot worse for the salmon and the people who love to fish for them. Hope he blew that 85lb Chinook sperm on all the eggs he could find. Thanks for the post Jordan.

Yup, that's a nice fish. It would likely have been a CA record as it first entered freshwater. Catching something like that on the troll would take you downstream for miles. What a blast that would have been. Sure would have been fun trying to squeeze him into my net.

    I fully agree.
