Dad, Son Catch 3-Foot Gator While Fishing
September 26, 2005 4:30 PM EDT
BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A father and son fishing in Indian Creek in Bucks County netted a three-foot alligator on Sunday.

Bill Chase, his 3-year-old son, Ryan; his niece, and several other children from Bristol Township were fishing near the VFW War Memorial Softball Field along Indian Creek when some of the children spotted the alligator downstream.

They ran back to tell Chase, who called animal control officer William Kurko.

The alligator was held overnight at a nearby kennel. Reptile experts have been called to determine where to place the animal, Kurko said.

"It looked very healthy; it adapted well. But right now, it's hissing like heck," Kurko said Sunday.

Kurko said the alligator may be taken to the Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Newtown.

now that is something that would disturb my son a bit. lol.

there is stories about people turning little ones loose in baldwin lake illinois
cause its a powerplant heated lake and will sustain them year round.
i cant understand what makes some people so irresponsible with pets like this.
seems to me there would be a zoo or someone who would be willing to take these unwanted critters instead of planting them in local waterways.

i think their should should be a system like they use in falconry or hawks

people should have to be licensed to own them.

and be trained and held accountable. JMO
I can remember as a wee lad bein able to purchase at the Woolworth 5 and dime, camans. They had a small pet section in the store. Ya could even get the real small painter turtles I beleive they were. I know I had one of them small gators. Used my paper route money. LOL!

Last year in Conway Arkansas an Octopus was caught by the dam, Imagine that! Yep!
Well I have heard it all now! Keep all those criters away from me.

We get the occasional piranha in a lake up here, but nothing that big or nasty.

Now that's something that would disturb ME in TN. LOL. Keep them gators in FL, SC, LA and wherever else they belong. Not sure I could fish with gators.
I saw an article and a picture in the paper about where people are turning loose pythons and Boa constrictors into the Florida everglades. Over 150 have been captured in the last year alone. The picture showed a 14 ft. python that had tried to swallow a 6 foot long alligator. Apparently the alligator was still alive and was clawing at the pythons stomach from the inside...causing it to burst which resulted in the death of both animals.

I saw that in todays' paper under ODDLY ENOUGH. Yeah, it was an interesting article. Matter of fact that's the only thing I read in the paper today except for my fatescope and decided not to read anymore. LOL.
I'd take a snake any day over a gator. If I had to choose. OH well, nature does her thing and we have to live with it.
