just wondering how often every one changes their line... i do it once every year.....
Every single trip, even if I only fish for a couple hrs...If my line touches the water, it gets changed when I get home...Usually 60 -70 times per year, or more.
i voted for every 6 months, mostly because that holds true. the truth is though i vary when i change my line. just depends on how much you fish, what line you have on, how good you take care of it, etc. etc. if i have a fish break my line, i change it almost immediately. whether it is when i set the hook, or mid fight. when i reel in my line i will generally place my index finger and thumb lightly griping the line. that way i can feel it on the retrieve. if i feel rough spots or anything unusual, ill replace it. if the color starts to fade, i change it. replacing line can get expensive, but if you loose a fish then the line did you no good.
only once or twice a year
Usually change it every fall. I fish for saugeye in the winter months.
Don't really keep up with how often I change my line. Least once a month though.
oooh::confused2:dam jack that adds up fast,
Usually when the spool gets low (from breaking off snags) or once a season, whichever comes first.
Yup, same for me. If I get into a bunch of snags it's going to speed up the replacement time. If not, I should be able to go a season on the same line.
It's not as if it's getting knicked up while on the reel.
This will hold more true when I begin to use my new reels that hold more line.
I use mono. Usually every 2 years. I'll reverse my line on the spool to get more use out of it. Usually reverse it once a year.
I start new at the beginning of the year then respool throughout the year as needed:cool2:
i change it every spring before the first trip out.
It really depends upon wether or not I have all ready used it on the young lady. LOL
Once a year or sometimes every two years. If I were to start catching bigguns regularly then I might change them more often but till that happens I aint wasting the money.
Change mine every year unless something happens like a fish runs around a rock or under a log anything that damages my line it comes off
Pretty much subjective, depends on the amount of use and condition. I usually will go at least 12+ months. But then I am not fishin for fame and prizes.:cool2:
Catfish reels get changed about every 2 -3 years on braid , I switched this year to Suffix brand braid and will see it holds up. The bass, crappie and walleye reels have been spooled with Suffix mono for either 3 or 4 years and still in good shape. I use my drags and really don't know if I have ever had a fish of any kind break a line without getting in brush.
I chose 12 months because I do it around once a year. Sometimes more often if needed.
Every 6 months as regular maintenance. Now if the spool gets low from snags, breaks, etc, I'll change it. Or if I get a lot of fish on that particular spool, I'll change it.
rarely do i change it every year most of my line gets changed every two years i have line on one reel thats going on 5 years now holding up great changing it every trip would sure cost ya alot of money but to each his own
