I caught one this evening...didn't get a girth measurement. It was thick but probably pretty average girth. Any thoughts on how much a fish like this would weigh? 40 lbs...50 lbs...?

I caught one the other night and I was thinking the same thing. My fish was 43 " long and 28+ girth. Everyone seems to think 40 plus. So I decided to call it a even 40. Here is the link to the discussion of my fish.

If you measure the girth and length, calculate the girth x girth x length divided by 800 this equals the weight.
Either way both are nice fish. Congrats to you.

thats a tough call, i've had a 28#'er go 42 inchs and even a 25# just as long, strange thing the 28#'er was longer than the 35#'er, hard to guesstamate without the girth, or a scale

A 43 inch flathead would weigh between 30 and 35lbs.
