I caught this at the lake right before you get to mark twain lake at the resort last year. Not a very good close up shot. I think it was around 28-30 inches . I had a little crappy scale I don't think was very accurate. It said like 8 or 9 pounds, damn it was fat though. I went home and put a 10 lb barbell weight on the scale and it was read 8 pounds. But i've caught a few eight pounders before and they were shorter and not as fat. Just curious how big you'll thought it looked?

If you have the correct length you use a weight calculator. Go to Lunker.net and look for the catfish calculator.

I ain't no river expert but I have caught an awful lot of channel cats in my time and I can generally guess within 1/2 a pound of the real weight by my digital scale. But my fish are pellet fed and short and fat. They usually have just eaten a pound of soybeans or feed before I catch them. How long was he? I would guess around 10-12.Like the man said with the length and girth you can get an exact calculation .

my biggest channel was 10.01 pounds. it was longer than yours but not nearly as fat. so i would say 11 to 12 pounds. whatever the weight is its a good looking fish. congrats

Call it a nice fish. Throw it back, go get a new scale and try to catch it again. Its all but impossible to guess the weight of a fish without dimensions or scales.

Ya'll boyz must catch some skinny fish if they are 28-30" weighing under 10#, LOL.

I went by the length stated, not the pic. Pics are too hard to tell by.
