    I have a vaccuum saver.

If I have some fresh shad that I want to use as cut bait, how long would it stay "fresh"? I've heard that once you freeze/thaw it's just not the same again as fresh. So, using my foodsaver and the fridge, could I keep it a week and still be good bait? Longer?

    Thanks!!

Vacuum sealing shad, will greatly improve it's shelf life. I do this with most of my baits, it has saved me alot of trouble.

Dave if you vacumn seal with a foodsaver. It will last for many weeks. Seal in one bag what you think you will use on the next trip. I usually try to seal about three large skipjack in a bag. I can always take three are more bags and only open what is needed. I hope this helps you on the shad.
