Flathead catfish fossils that are about 15 million years old, from the mid-Miocene Epoch, can’t be distinguished from the modern flathead catfish.

I don't know for she but I can remember them being around all my life, LOL!!!

Longnose Gar, Alligator Gar, Sturgeon, Bowfin, and our precious Flathead are all prehistoric fish species.

I read an article about "the Camden Catfish" from prehistoric ages. It's average weight was estimated at 1500lbs.
