How deep were the crappie, and was the water pretty open? Where I didn't have to worry about lots of stickups, and where the crappie weren't too deep, I've had good success jugging for crappie using mono for my line, a regular gold crappie hook, splitshot, and minnows. Caught some cats & bass, too.
I've never fished that lake, so I can't help you much. Besides, it looks like a clear, deep lake, and I've never done will with them. Have you thought about fishing the Petit Jean River where hwy. 7 crosses it? Some good spots upstream from there, and I've caught fish jugging there, too.

BB , Blue Mountain and Nimrod are good for juggin (noodles). Lake Dardanelle is also a good pick when the river is not high..

Other than the nuclear power plant, where do you jug on Dardanelle?

My buddy goes to the bays on Dardanelle and uses Shad for bait. Here on Nimrod I catch most on perch when noodle fishing. Delaware or Shoal bays should be real good there on Dardanelle. They catch mostly Blues and at Nimrod most are Channels.

Bait Boat, are you talking about snagging in the spillway gates? That's legal, so long as you don't go up any closer than the 100 yard markers. I've even seen boats specifically rigged for that, with a bar across the front to steady the person snagging. This requires a second person to run the motor and keep the boat as steady as possible.

In his boat?!!!!! With the Arkansas River like it is? Well, if he wants to take it to court and try to beat it, I'll be glad to testify that he's nuts.

The sad part about this was they only had 2 rock heads and 1 5lb flat head. Wilson threw the flat head back in. They were from oklahoma.
