How I cut shad, in pictures

    I see alot of new members asking how to cut bait.The below pics show how I do it. The fish is a shad.

    that is how i was planning on cutting my bait if i wanted to use cut bait

    I might add that some of my biggest flatheads have come from cut bait pieces of that size.

    I will add that if there are turtles w/ in a 50 mile radius they will be sure to come! :big_smile:

    Thats one of the ways I cut my bait but I like to butterfly it also like in the library. nice pics

    Thats how i cut my bream...when i cut em. I did it that way cuz i felt it was logical, but now that i know someone else cuts bait like me i feel better.:smile2:

    Thats exactly how i cut bait too. Only thing that I do different is the way i put the pieces on the hook. I dont discriminate between head & tail pieces. I also like to cover the entire hook till only the tip is protruding. Theres several reasons i do this. 1st - It helps the cats from feeling the hook. 2nd - If the cat is able to get off one of the pieces, theres still several more on the hook hes likely to come back for.

    I cut them like that most of the time too..If the bite is real slow, then i fillet them...Seems like filleting them turns them on a little bit
