I have heard they can be used like circle hooks, just reel in slack and reel em in, and I have heard they can be used like regular j-hooks, so how do you use Kahle hooks?

David, keep the slack out of your line and when your rod loads pretty good just reel it in. It isn't necessary to set the hook at all.

kahles are the inbetween. if your feelin lazy (or sleepin) most of the time a fish will hook himself just like a circle. if you like rippin the fishes lips off, kahles will work for that too.

I keep my line very tight. If I see my line running to the side, I'll set the hook hard, but usually if it's a good cat, they nearly knock your rod in the water, and at that point they're on you just reel em in.

I agree with John. Kahles are the best of both worlds.:0a27:

Rip their faces off. If you and I can ever get on the water together.... I'll show you. I love kahle hooks, because they allow me to set the hook just as hard as I want. :smile2:
