WHat is the best way to clean a crappie ?
we always fillet them, works pretty well i think
i fillet all my crappies.
I always filet them.
I just fillet them skin off if nice and big. If small and i 'm hungry for them scale first so as to have a bigger fillet. i never cook bone in fish anymore. but some people do like the taste of bone in fish. If you want bone in fish
1. catch fish
2. scale, gut, and remove head of fish.
3. cook the fish.
I now you aked about cleaning crappies, but pretty much the sme for all species for me.
Oh by the way I cut thur the ribs , then remove the ribs after i have a stack of fillets, Seems to go faster this way for me.
I scale them, cut there heads off and then gut them. I then put them in some fish batter and throw them in the oil. When they are done you can pull the bones right out and no waste at all. Its a sin to fillet a crappie!!!!!!!!
I filet them with an electric knife....
I just cook them like they are because if you filet them you lose meat so good crappie fishin and i hope the best for all:embarassed:
I always pull my fish behind the boat in a Rocket fish scaler. All you do is cut the heads off and slit the bellies. After pulling 'em all that is necessary is rinsing off the lake water before frying. The larger ones I fillet after scaling. The smaller oines I cook whole.
i clean them just like my gills
i take a electric fillet knife start behind this one fin and just go along the spine till the tail flip the fillet over(make sure not to break the skin from the fish and the fillet and just zip out the fillet from the skin and take out the ribs(actually the second thing i do after the fillets are fillets lol
its way easier to show someone lmao
