How do you catch shad from the bank ?

    How do you catch shad from the bank ?

    Here we go to spots that have water running . There are always shad messing in the current of them.

    on the boat ramp when the wind is blowing at the ramp, around dock lights at night, off the marina fishing piers. At the power plant city lakes if its legal. get them early and if that fails the baitshop heheh. Good luck

    Invest in a throw net,and practice ,you'll be gathering your own bait in no time.

    We have threadfin shad, hickory shad, and gizzard shad here.


    Threadfins....
    Find lighted areas off docks etc and throw a 3/8 mesh cast net at niht. I have a car battery and a floating crappie light that draws them in after a hour, give or take. I've used it off bridge rock, docks, anywhere I see them and want to draw them in.

    Hardest part is finding a clear area to throw the net.

    What Jimmy said is some good advice. I catch them alot under lights.
