When I'm nightfishing with a green light, I usually position the light about 12-18 inches below the surface. I do OK, some nights better than others, but I'm wondering...what is the best depth to position your underwater light(s). I usually fish in about 20-25 ft of water.

I run mine about the same. Deeper than that, and I tend to get tangled up in em.

I still use the floating light and do Ok with it. Haven't got to fish with anyone with the green light yet. I'll watch this thread for all the comments. Thanks!!

i've used the green light but mostly to attract shad when we run out it's easier to net them under the light at night rather than looking for them all over. we have used it to fish under, just takes way too long imo, plus we've only caught dinks under it nothing big!!!

I would like that link also.

I use lights all the time for crappie, just not the green ones. About 12-18 inches down most of the time, sometimes deeper.

Guys put this in your search on Google Night "Stanlking by Rango" and that will bring up the right page. Then go down until you see Night Stanlking by Rango
As if I post the link the Filter blocks it. But this way is easy and works.
Great reading on night crappie fishing and Rango is good at it.

Yeah I know who you are talking about. Unless Rango has had a change of heart, I don't think he's into green lights. Rango and crew is the BEST at night time crappie fishing.
