I've been reading up on Hovey Lake and I'm very interested in giving it a try sometime next spring or summer. Anybody fish this lake much? Any good tips? Is there any bank fishing there or is a boat needed? Thanks.

I grew up in Evansville and fished there as a kid. Got flatheads and blues.

Thanks, I've read that there's some big ones in there cause the Ohio floods into it a lot. Did you do any bank fishing there?

I've heard about the slab crappies there too, that also grabs my attention. It looks like just the place for big cats and crappie and well anything that is big. It has tons of cover from what I've read and the Ohio floods into it every so often.

    Hi Dan,
Hovey Lake is just west of Evansville, it's about smack dab in the lower 'tip' of Indiana. If you haven't downloaded Google Earth, do yourself a favor and get it. Here's the link, http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/ . Once you have the program, you can type just about any lake name, city, etc, and get a full color birds eye view. Enjoy! I've never fished Hovey Lake, but it sounds like a great spot. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I don't know for sure but I would assume. The Ohio River floods it every once in a while so I'm sure that some flatties are in there

I've read that there's channels, flats, and blues in there and there tends to be some large ones in there too.
