Houghton Lake

Houghton Lake Produced the state's channel cat record. Itis a huge lake that takes up a big hunk of Roscommon County. Boats are a must and when a storm hits this lake can produce world class waves, so be mindful.

Houghton Lake is a large lake, it has over 22,000 acres of surface area and more than 30 miles of shoreline. Houghton Lake is about 8 miles long and 4 miles wide. Although large, Houghton Lake is a shallow lake with an average depth of only 8 to 9 feet deep and a maximum depth of 20 feet. Houghton Lake is one of Michigan's outdoor recreational hot spots.

There is virtually NO cat pressure on the lake.
