Anyone use them? I have heard they were good baits but I have never (in 10 years of trying them) even had a bite on them. What say you

Joe chubs are one of my favorite baits. I have caught a world of cats
on them. I usually use them whole and alive but if I'm running low I
have used them as cut bait. I have the same problem as you but with
crawfish. I know they are good bait. I have dressed cats with crawfish
in their bellies but I do not have much luck using crawfish as bait.

Maybe its the way I use them, but I have never had a lot of luck with them either. Have caught a few but ot as many as on other baits.

It's a bait that you can eat if you can't catch anything with them.

Not at all. We catch chubs out of clean, cold, Ozark water, clean them like any other fish and fry 'em up. Horny heads are more of a headwaters fish and get up to 12"+ in length, they breed in clean gravel and do not tolerate pollution well. They come with the same bones as a sunfish and can be cooked the same way. My family has been eating them for over 160 years but very few people realize that they are edible. :smile2:
