First time on this lake. Just ran boat aroung lake to check it out. Seemed to be up a foot or so. 56 deg and relatively clear. Saw plenty of carp 'sleeping' back in flooded grass and bushes. Looks to me like shallow upper end should be good for drifting. Any one know about how deep and what time of year the thermocline sets up here at Hoover? Anybody caught any flatheads here?

Tom, Ive heard of some small flats being caught out of Hoover but its just hear say. Never have seen any pics. The north end of the lake seems to produce some good sized channel cats. The feeder creek by Galena running into hoover from the north seems to be a good spot. Alot of turtles though too. Good luck on your next trip Tom.

Thanks smoothskip for the info. Will try to get some shad and try north end as soon as I can.
