Hooks @ hookset

    Brian what seems to be the problem. what kind of cats are you fishing for, what kind of hooks,what kind of bait. a few more details and someone can probably help ya. and welcome to the BOC.

    Depending on what kind of hooks you're using. With J hooks you have to set the hook urself by pulling your rod up. With circle hooks the fish hooks itself, I would leave your line tight when you use these. With kahle hooks you can do either... hook the fish yourself or let the fish do it. Also make sure the hook is sharp run it across your fingernail if it leaves a scratch its sharp. If it just "skates" across and doesn't leave a mark you need to sharpen it.     another big thing to check for is when you hook your bait, live or cut, check the tip of your hook, that one little scale sticking on there could cost you a fish of a lifetime
