What size Circle or Hkales hook do you use on your jug and trot lines. Do you use circle or hkales on jugs or trot lines?

If memeory serves me right, I use either a 4/0 or 5/0 circle. It's been a long time since I jug fished.

I don't use kahle or circle on my trotlines. I use stainless eagle claw 254SS in 5/0 or 6/0 for my small cat line fishing with shad or cut bait, 3/0 254SS for dough or soap. And for live bait throwline fishing for flatheads I use 9/0 and 10/0 eagle claw 090SS hooks. I hear alot of guys say they use circles and kahles but I only use them for rod and reel fishing, they work good for that stuff for me.

I use 4/0-6/0 on my jugs ( eagle claw J hooks ) it just depends on what I'm using for bait.On my trotlines I use 6/0-11/0 ,and again it depends on the bait and what fish I'm after. I'm going to try some circle hooks on some limblines and polelines this year, I have some 14/0 and 16/0 eagleclaw 190 circle hooks.

I don't use trout lines or jugs but when I'm setting up throw lines ( 1 hook per willow branch/stick) I use 4/0 circles.

When I am setting up jugs, I am after eating size fish < 10 Lb, and I use a <4/0 hook. Personally I like the Eagle Claw Pro-baiter but it is light wire and I guess some would not approve. It will bend, but that hasn't been my probelm so far. For bigger fish on live bait, I will go with a big ole hook, like a 7/0 circle hook.

I have experimented with 10/0 circle hooks and have had good luck with my hook sets.

I use alot of 9/0 circles on a rod if i fish with a 10inch sucker. On my jug lines I use alot of dough bait and stuff like that on a 5/0 treble hook. I keep mine neer weed beds and suspended off of the bottom about 1 foot. But the river i fish is only about 25 feet where i fish. The biggest fish i have caught out of there was 12 lbs. for utah it is big.

I keep a supply of circle hooks, thats what I rig my kids up with. I tried khales on my limblines and trotlines but I went back to 6/0 j's. I prefer a 3/0 Khale Mustad for my r&r though. I have noticed that when I buy bulk Mustads I have to sharpen nearly every hook, but if I buy the 10 pack thair super sharp.

I will upgrade hook size to bait size from time to time but mostly I cut the bait to fit the hook.

6 or 7/0 sickle or wide gap for larger live baits
