Hook problem

    IVE BEEN FISHING WITH GAMMAGATSOO OCT CIRCAL HOOS SIZ 8/0 I HAD THREE SRCEEMING RUNS AND I SHUT THE CLIKER OFF THE POLL BENT BUT NO HOOKUP THREE TIMES IN A ROW I KNOW THEY WERENT GAR WHAT IM I DOING RONG WITH THEESE I RAISED THE ROD SLOWLY AND REELD IN, SHOULD I EVEN NOT TOUCH THE POLL TILL ITS HOOKED

    I fish with the same hook on a regular basis. All I can add to what ya are doin is make sure ya got plenty of hook point exposure and its not hidein or able to turn back into the bait.

    I GUES THE QWESTION IS WHEN MY POLL BENDS SHOULD I REEL IN OR JUST RAIS THE ROD ALSO WHEN RAISING THE ROD SHOULD I RAIS IT SIDEWAYS

    If the rod is in a rod holder, you can either let the fish do the work of hooking himself by just leaving the rod alone, or you can help things out by cranking the reel several quick turns once the rod bends over - *then* pick it up out of the rod holder.

    Don't use the baitclicker. Set your drag so that you can pull line without too much effort.
