I've noticed that on my kahle and octopus hooks, the point is offset so that it is at about a five degree angle to the shank. The octopus hook has been quite effective in terms of setting versus a hook of the same size and shape without the offset. Has anyone else noticed this?

yuppers.. I had some cheaper Kahles and noticed my hookup rate drop.. I just took pliers and bent them slightly to offset the hook... problem solved  I had a thread on here somewhere about it...

Offset makes a difference. I use only offset!
