First of all, fresh cut shad or skipjack will catch many more fish for me than anything else. I do use backup baits when I can't get shad or skipjack. Here's a list of backup baits I have used that have been successful at times:
    1. cured chicken livers
    2. bacon
    3. salt pork
    4. chitlings flavored with garlic, anise, vanilla, shrimp, or cheese

You can use Ramen noodle flavor packets or packages of powdered cheese sauce for flavoring.

Nothing would hit cut bream but channel cats.

Despite the fact that it's worked very well for some folks, dip/stink/punch/dough baits have never caught a fish for me.
