I doubt it will be worst than running in the Kansas river.I will keep it in mind. I drove by yesterday and there is a lot of trees they left in the lake.I have never fished it so if anybody has some knowledge feel free to past it on. I'm sure there will be some stories that come from the lake will try to keep everyone updated on the fishing. Might be like my time in the Army at Georgia I spent about 250 days fishing in one year. I spent about 2 hours reading old post on here last night.

I do have a boat. I saw on one of the post someone put all the cordinates of where they had put cover for fish in Hillsdale. Does anybody know where to find it. I could read threw all the old post again. I didn't realize it but I could use my Garmin to see if any of it is still left.

Here is what I have from KDWP plus some they put in Clinton.

We recently completed installation of additional fish attractors in the Marysville area. Listed below are the GPS coordinates for all fish attractors constructed to date. For those of you who have all of the coordinates except the newest, bp36 to bp49 are the coordinates for the newly constructed attractors. The following coordinates are in the decimal degrees format and the map datum used was NAD83. So be sure to have your GPS units set up using the above coordinate system and map datum or the coordinates in the table will put you in some other location other than Hillsdale. I will not leave this coordinate list up permanently so be sure to copy the coordinates sooner than later. Good Luck!

I fish Hillsdale a lot Lloyd. I live very close to one of the landings and one of the main tribs which run into it. The fishing at Hillsdale can be very good. The one problem you will see at this lake is BUSY at times. There is a lot of Johnson, Miami, and other county traffic which seek refuge here. Close to the dam during nice weather, you will find a large portion of power boats, skiers, and jet skis. So, keep this in mind, especially on weekends.

Now to the fishing. It is a fairly good crappie lake. Spring time is always good for crappie as long as the rain cooperates. Sometimes it pushes the spawn out deeper. Bass is pretty good anytime except winter. March thru Fall is pretty dang good walleye fishing if you know what you are doing and fish the right points, flats, etc. Also, you can hit the face of the dam during March for their spawning season. (Watch the nets) You will catch white bass! Trust me! Catfishing is a grade A on channel cats. Get into the timber, shallow flats, close to the deeper water. During hot summer, look towards those deep channel bends during the day. "Chummers" utilize these areas. Flatheads are big here. The problem is over harvesting by the set liners. If it's big, it is usually kept for pictures and table fare. I can't blame them cause flats taste great. However, we will see a LARGE flathead come from this lake some day if people will catch/release these giants over 10 or 20 pounds. There has been a 78 pound flathead caught and released in this lake. No fish story. It is great fishing from a boat, but there is also some decent bank places also. Spend some time out there. There is a lot of flooded timber, so watch it when you boat. Have fun and you will probably see me out there on more than one occasion.

It's a good lake. My family and friends enjoy this lake a lot, pretty much all year. If you like channel cat and flatheads, Hillsdale is hard to beat. Give me a call or pm me if your ever in the area. We camp a lot and do a lot of night fishing.
