Does anyone know of any places a person could go hiking for a a period of time and camp. Someplace near water so you could hike in a ways and find a stream and fish it and still camp in solitude

Not sure how far you are willing to drive, but if you want to go to the prettiest part of the state, come down here to southeastern Oklahoma. There are beautiful rivers and streams down here in the hills. You can get a land pass from the Wildlife Department and have access to about 700,000 acres of rugged land to hike, camp and fish. I think there is beauty in all areas of Oklahoma, but this is by far my favorite place. You can go around Broken Bow, and all up north of there. As long as you ain't a Texan you will be welcome!

I guess it depends on which is more important. During the week Blue River isn't too bad for solitude and the fishing generally is pretty good. http://blueriverok.com/custom.html

If it's just Hiking with a little fishing then I go to Wichita Wildlife Reserve back country. http://www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges/oklahoma/wichitamountains/backcountry.html

For Hiking, Fishing and Solitude I like either Three Rivers http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/threerivers.htm

    Or

    Honobia Creek
    http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/honobia.htm

The last two are my favorites. You may not see another person while your there.

Let me know how it goes.
