Does anyone have any ideas what causes those stupid things. Seems like no matter what I eat anymore I wind up with the hiccups and after awhile it gets old. They don't last very long but sure get tried off it. Used to be when I was little they said I was still growing. But I know I'm past the growing stage:roll_eyes: so whats the deal. It does my sister the same way.Strange huh?

For me I get them after I eat or drink (non alchol) too fast and get too full. I hate them:smile2:

Meant to add that if you are so full your body is taking more Oxygen to digest the food than what you breath causing the hicups

I found this when I researched it and maybe it will help someone, who knows. We know all the home remedies.

Lady next door told me, doctor told her that after she had her throat operated on he didn't want her hiccuping/would pull stitches loose.Told her if she had them to eat a spoon full of sugar. Said it tastes awful but does work. Course she had thyroid surgery and stuff tasted awful to her anyway.

I know what to do to get rid of them, just wondered if anyone knew what causes them.
One answer made scense, but I don't eat that much and sure don't feel overfull:roll_eyes:

These are all pretty close to the same reasoning, the basic cause is the diaphragm, for a variety of reasons ....

and now the ways to stop them...and the sugar is on there at the bottom of the list. I never knew that!
