Anoybody using cut herring for bait?? Is there anywhere to get it around here? Everyone seems to use stink bait or livers. I hate both!!

Cam I suggest you use live bait if it is available to you if not frozed fish seem to work ok, I personally would forget the liver an stink bait if you are interested in catch any big flatheads, good luck

Chris, If you want to catch channel cats i'd use the cut herring, but if your interested in catching some large flatheads than live bait is the best way to go

Thanks for the info guys but I'm new to this area and have yet to find a bait shop that carries either.

Chris - Welcome to the B.O.C.!:0a25::0a23: I would find a local pond or lake and catch yourself a bucket of Bluegills to use as live bait for Flatheads. Actually any panfish make great Flathead bait as well as chubs, suckers, etc if you have a stream nearby to catch them.
