I ahve a 1996 bass boat that the paint is faded from the sun.
I tried a time or two to use a green scuff pad to rough it up and then spray some clear paint on it and it looked great for a couple weeks then started to look really bad.

Any ideas on something I can do to help the pain look good for a good while?

It is a fiberglass bass boat.

Chris, my first try would have been turtle wax. If that did'nt liven it up I probally would let it fade.

I am not sure what to do now that you have clear coated it, but what worked great on my boat was plain ole "comet" cleanser and a green scrubber, next you go to a rubbing compond, and then a polishing compound and lastly, a wax of your choice to protect it! It is labor intensive but worked great for me and did'nt cost nearly as much as other "restorer's"!

First Thing Is U Have To Use Gel-coat Not Clearcoat...other Thing Is U Have To Spend The Money And Buy Good Stuff!!! Cheap Stuff Will Not Last Long And Will Fade...kinda Like A "earl Shob" 100.00 Paint Job...lol
