I have a 1979 15 hp evinrude, I have had it for a couple of months with no issues. Today out on the water however all of a sudden I could not go fast. When in gear I could move at idle speed, but when I throttle up I didn't go any faster. I don't know much about motors so I am at a loss. any help would be appreciated.

Check the prop The hub is worn There are some props shops that can repair this or you need to replace the prop.That what it sounds like to me anyway Good luck and I hope this helps

Yep thats what it was. Just took off the prop and the bushing arount the brass coller was eat up bad. Thanks alot for the help man, big props on the prop problem
