Help Please

    Hello everyone,

    Been Awhile since I've been here, but i need some help. Me and my boys fish Lock C all the time. We are having a problem. We use live shad but we seem to be catching nothing but Big Smelly ,Nasty, Good for nothing Drum. What are we doing wrong? Please help

    I would suggest use bigger hook and baits. How big is your shad you are using? If small, add 2 to 3 at a time on a single hook.

    Wolfman is right, if you put half a skip jack on there you won't be catching any drum.

    I know your problem all too well peanut. What kind of cats are you after? If yer after channels or small blues, you can start by trying some baits that might target cats specifically like shrimp, stink baits, or liver. If yer after flatties or large blues, you can try larger baits with larger hooks as suggested earlier and see if that helps. Drum are a pain. I catch drum that run 8 lbs plus, so even larger baits can still be a problem at times. Good luck.

    Allen, here at Nickajack Dam just outside Chattanooga, the drum are running right now. Just try using different bait like skipjack or large blue gills and you won't catch drum, at least that has been our experience.
