the area i fish is tidal creeks. how do you find the holes that every one is talking about..
Adam, welcome to the BOC!
cj ..thank you..
I would expect to find them around the same kind of structure that attract other fish, such as bass. As with other fish, tidal movement will probably have a great influence on the bite. I always preferred outgoing tide, and liked to find 'bottlenecks', or small areas where water from large areas had to pour through.
If its safe, swim it! Here on the susquehanna, the river is known to be a mile wide and 3 feet deep. I've gone w/ a couple of buddies w/ inner tubes and life jackets swimming out looking for wholes. On a river like the susquehanna, a 6 or 7 foot whole can really produce.
JMarrs328: i would love to fish the susquehanna. we ride dirt bikes near the millersburg/ liverpool ferry and thats a nice river..
It is a great river, but its hard to find good holes for catfish sometimes. However, it is one of THE best smallmouth rivers in the world.
