Well, this is the time of year that totally stinks. I have lots of rods and reels that have been used then throw on the shelf or left in a tackle bag all year. Each year (in the winter) I go through, wash down the rods and try to clean the reels as best as possible. I usually go through and decide which reels are going to be on which rods. Now this of coarse usually changes somewhat because most of the time I will end up buying more. For instance I'm in talks of getting two custom Pink catfish rods for my wife and little girl to use on the boat. I'll probably put 6500's on the rods. rods from Some of the rods listed might not make the team this year and end up in the for section. :confused2: Any way, I'd like to ask, "If it were you, how would you match up the rods/reels?"

Looks like alot but that's for me, three kids and the wife, though. Most of it will only see the water once or twice, just can't bring myself to sell/trade the what doesn't get used much.

I can see by your collection that you have an itch that you can't scratch. Enjoy what you have and buy what your budget will allow. You only live once. Put me in your will.

you need to match the black cat and custom 6000 on the long rods.

You will be catching most of your fish on the long poles.

last time you tried to reach the hole with your 7000's you kept back lashing:big_smile:

wow, nice arsenal.i would match my biggest reels with the heaviest poles, that way you can put on more weight to load the rod more to cast those 7000's.i would put the 6000's on lighter rods, since you don't need to load the rod up as much with more weight to throw them out there.

but,if they are giving you too much troouble tp decide,i'll take a couple of the troublemakers off your hands

Yes Jack, you might be right. I'm going to try a couple things.

#1.) I think I might put the 7000 & the 7000 B on two of the main Long Poles (10 foot Ugly Stick & 10 foot King Cat Supreme) that I'll be using with you. I think I'm going to spool them w/ 25# Vicious rather than 30 or 50 that I have on them now. That should REALLY improve the casting distance.

#2.) Prob put the two 6000's on the other two long poles (Beast Rods).

#3.) I know that the 7000ci3's will go on the Ugly Stick Customs, spooled w/ 50# Vicious. These will be boat rods for useage in heavy current.

After that I'm open to anything.......

I'm also looking at possibly downsizing and going to only a handfull of rod/reels, but just can't seem to pull the trigger. If I do this I'd like to get a couple more Ugly Stick Tiger Lites, as those are great for either Channels or Flats, especially from the boat.

i would bring a couple 6500's along just in case... last year dip had trouble hitting the core of the hole with his 7000... i remember the first time you fished the hole with those 7000's they had that cajun red on them, you were backlashing on about every cast, then you fell in the mud:big_smile:
