I've had a 7000ic3 Reel for over a month and love it. Casts better than any of my 6500/6600 reels(c3,c4,6600 brute). And the extra line capacity and louder clicker are plusses too. Did i mention the football power handle? Love IT too.

Personally I prefer using the 6500's to the 7000's unless I am using a lot of weight for times with lots of current. Just my personal preference.

If you like the 6500 and you want to go bigger get the 7000 for sure. I think the penn 320gt is a good cheaper alternative to the 7000 if they are to expensive.

Jordan, if you are torn, meet up with some members from your area, and cast their 7000's or 9000's. Bottom line is if you want to be a channel cat fisherman stick with the 6500 class reels. ( Oh yea, you can haul in an occasional big flat or blue on one) But why not just be prepared for the big one when he hits? Upgrade to the 7000 or 9000 if you are serious.

Love both reels. I have both of them. If your fishing for channels go with the 6500's. For flats go with the 7000c3i's. You cant go wrong with either reel. I just bought a Shimano tr200g. Nice reel. Cheaper than the abu's.
