HELP 1985 force motor

    Had compression check on my Force motor today,70 in one cylinder 80 in the other,not good i take it.Also looked in cylinders with camera and seen pitting and scatches, thats not good either I take it.Dont really know much about boat motors.So does this motor need rebuilt and would it even be worth the money to fix this motor also what kind of cost am i looking at.Any help would be great,Thanks Aaron

    not good but you dont need to run it any more. you need to have new rings. but if you run it and burn a piston forget it. what hp is your force.

    If I remember right he has a 50HP

    pretty common problem on them... i have a 50force in the shed like that. check ebay.. you might find a good powerhead there..

    sounds like your getting answers, but don't like them. i don't know much about motors, but do know force are not noted for good reputation.
    wish you luck, but if was me, i'd be looking for another brand of motor.

    you can find force parts but you may find a motor that will be a better replacement than the force in the long run . but if not i think i still have some number from when i rebuilt a force 90

    The only other option you have is to tear it down and bore it and put new pistons in it. As for cost the way prices are jumping these days it could be anywhere from 500 to 2000. My self, I would be more inclined in finding another motor before I would sink any more into a force engine.
    They were and are a poor designed engine. Stay away from a force and an OMC fitch engine.
