Dear fellow fisherman I have learned quite a bit of knowledge in a short time by reading your posts this month. I hope to pass some tips your way. The catfish/ channels have been biting in South East Mo. I had some luck the other night on a small lake. I started out by using shrimp, hot dogs, bee jay, bb cheese and liver, and chicken livers. I even did something different for a change. I peeled the shrimp removed the tail and placed it on a trebble hook 4/0. I then sprinkled garlic powder on it. I caught 4 fish that weighed each approx. 3lbs on my garlic shrimp. I guess the cats wanted Italian shrimp. The shrimp I used were purchased from a local grocery store. They were T.V bait shrimp that come in a small box for $2.00 they worked is all I can say. I discovered that I forgot my cheese hot dogs when I got to the lake. My father though brought one quarter lb hot dog that he was going to try out. He cut it up and used it. Where he caught the fish I just tossed in a piece of BB cheese and liver bait that I removed from my hook and replaced with shrimp. I wonder if I chummed the monster in for him. He used the hot dog and caught a channel that weighed approx. 8lbs. I had a good time and can't wait to do it again. I tried some of them mustad circle hooks and didn't even have one bite with it. So I don't know how well they work yet. Im trying them though.
