This is something that everyone needs to watch out for.
3 1/2 years ago on a Thursday Evening. I had pain in my left arm and elbow. Did not think much of it. Then the next evening my wife came home to find me laying on the bed. Hurting like crazy.
I got lucky. I had 99% blockage and did not have a heart attack( Doctor could not believe I had not have a massive heart attack).. But Sure was lucky. My Grandfather died at 46 massive heart attack, My dad died at 44 with a massive heart attack. My mother at 59 massive heart attack.
AT 40 I beat the odds. But also because I was aware of what I thought may have been heart problems.
So please read up and don't be one of the people that think its heart burn and not your heart.
I have had the same place stinted three times now. The last 2 from scare tissue.
Also the main one in the back my heart was 70% when the first one was stinted. But now has cleared up to 25%

So be careful and watch out. I still can't handle the heat. But glad to be here.
    Pete

Yes a lot of people think its bad pain. But some times its just light.
I know the last 2 times I just starting having light pain and hard to catch my breath.
And know its time to head back again. but sure hope I don't have to again. As they told me its 85% next time it will be the knife not a stint.

I will add a little to what has been said . About 15 years ago I had shortness of breath , the Dr told me it was lungs so I just put up with it. as the years went along it got worse, it got so i had lots of pain is the chest along with the breathing problems. I would set and it would go away, I was fishing alone and ended up laying on the ground, Luckily my son found me . a flight to the hospital and 5 days in icu I came out of it . I still have a bad heart but my breathing is fine. my heart is blocked 40 to 60 % so I must watch what I do.
the bottom line is if you have shortness of breath get a stress test it may be your heart.

guys when you say short of breath are you reffering to when up doing something. i use to smoke and quit 2 years ago. mines seems to be worst on real humid days. sometimes i cannot walk around my house without struggling to catch my breath. i cannot leave the good food along. heart attacks have killed a lot of my family memebers. my dad has to take all kinds of medicine for his heart. he has blockages but dont want to go under the knife. cannot use a slint on his. doctor said the blood flow is going in the wrong direction in one artery on him because of blockage. sometimes i think mine is gas but it will wake me up in the middle of the night sometimes hurting in my chest. have to get up and get the blood flowing or something. i really dont know. never hurt in my arms or anything just chest and back. should i go get tested?

A week to the day after my mother died this past March from a massive heart attack, I was sitting on the floor going thru papers & things in my parents living room. Cleve was feeding the kids lunch. I started having shortness of breath, but i thought it was anxeity. I tried for a good 20 min to calm myself down, but couldnt. It was then that I realized I was having a heart attack. I calmly told cleve to put the kids coats on & get them in the car. I asked dad to help me off the floor. Cleve asked me what was wrong & I told him I was having a really bad anxeity attack. I think he knew better... must have been the blue lips.
Anywoy, long story short... 5 days in the hospital, every cardiac test known to man, including a caardiac cath & tons of drugs. The pronounced me with that neew diagnosis ACS... Apparently I had a blockage in a cardiac artery & the huge dosages of Plavix plus the cath took care of it. NOW i really watch what I eat & I've made sure my doc checks my choelesterol every 3 mos.
So catfishrus, DEFINITELY do not fool around, you have nothing to lose, go to the doc & get checked! Please!

man, been dealing with strange stuff like this for about 2 years now heh..
Get all lightheaded/dizzy feeling, chest will hurt sometimes, little black dots floating around in my vision..For a while my left arm and leg "felt" weak... Would feel like couldnt lift some over 5 pounds, could, but had that weak feeling like I couldnt... Face numbness...I sound like A hypocondriac (sp?)

Been to the ER a few times, had the EKG done. Even had me wear one of those monitors for 48 hours and log all the stuff I did...

Been to my Doc's, have had chest x-rays, blood work, etc.. Had a MRI done of brain. Had sonogram of my heart..

Doc says its acid reflux and sinus ????? Somedays I'm praying I'm not going to pass out or keel over dead...I read all the "signs" of a bad ticker and check em off as having em, but they dont seem to find anything (good thing)

Now my wife is all lightheaded and dizzy feeling like she going to pass out...
Who friggen knows, I just know I'm tired of it wish I could figure out the problem...

Think of your loved ones as well as yourself. If you have any doubt, get it checked out.Even then it may not show up.One of my terminal illnesses and 100% disabilities is my heart.Waited too long.Nothing more that they can do for me.It is not a problem as I have terminal Cancer. No known cure. The Lord willing I hope to go out with a heart attack instead of cancer.I receive medication and treatment if needed for "Quality of life",not to prolong it.All my doctors and family approve of my decision. Most of you can catch it in time. You can then do something about it.You wait too long, you can end up like me.Bad as it is at times,I have the easy part.My wife has to take care of me like a child. It is a horrible experience for the people that love me.Please think of your family.Don;t let it go.Now it does have it's advantages.I eat what ever I want if I feel like it.peewee-williams

If you and the wife are feeling the same things then I would check the house for carbon monoxide, a gas leak or possibly mold.
    Just a thought.

Please go to the doctor and get a second opinion if you want too. My husband has been fighting doctors for 2 years now cause none of em can agree on anything. His problem is his spinal canal in his neck ,already had 2 fusions last one was a year ago with a plate and screws and bless his heart he still hurts. When it comes to the heart you never ever mess with that go get checked it may mean your life!!!----pk powell:eek:oooh:

Family on moms side is all eat up with heart problems... all of my Moms brothers and sisters have all had bypass surgery. My mom had a heart attack at the age of 36... light one. at age 51 she had quadruple bypass. at 53 she was gone. about 6 months later one of her sisters died of massive stroke. then about 6 months after that another sister died on the table of her second bypass. 10 years prior to this one brother died at age of 43 i believe on the table during bypass surgery. Grandpa died around 65 heart related and moms Mom, died at age 33 massive heart attack. SO, I know all about heart related problems. When I was 30 I was having problems that I thought was heart related, turned out to be anxiety attacks. My heart cath turned up clean and Doc said I have a strong desiese free heart. Happy yes, but at age 36 I was nervouse the whole year........ None of my cousins have heart problems and we are all nearing or over the age of 40. My next hurdle in life is age 53. 13 more years.
I had no idea you had those kid of problems Pete, Take care of them, I met you at pickwick once and thought that you were a happy go lucky kind of guy, now I understand why..
The rest of you fellas better keep an eye on it or it will sneak up and get ya when you aint lookin. Mac

If you have any kind of weakness, pain, nausea, light headedness, problems breathing, get to the ER right away.

I had a heart attack in 1998, we had just done a nonstop drive back to Indiana from Missouri, hadn't been home over an hour when I got a real bad pain in my chest and started sweating. My wife took one look at me and called 911, said I was white as a sheet.

Long story short, spent 10 days in the hospital, had a stent put in the descending aorta had a 90% blockage. Found out my cholesterol was over 400, down to 156 now and checked 3 times a year. I thank the Good Lord every day for letting me stay here and for giving me a wife with the knowledge to see what was happening and get me to the hospital in time.

If the first doctor you see can't or doesn't want to find what is wrong, then by all means find another one. A doctor isn't God and they do make mistakes. I lost my dad to cancer in 1980 because a doctor was to lazy to do the tests needed to catch it in time. He grew up in a time when a doctor was looked at as God and never thought to question his till it was to late.

Well Guys and Gals, here's my story.........for many years I sought out what was wrong with me. Several different doctor's, including specialists.......could never find anything wrong. My symptoms were shortness of breath, profuse sweats, not being able to breathe when bending over, a weakness when just doing normal non-exerting activities and for the most part could not tolerate the heat to any extent. Nothing ever found in tests done by doctors to indicate anything was wrong. This went on as I said for many years. Just couldn't do anything physically that one should be able to do under normal circumstances.

Then one day, early morning, March 2000 at age 57 got up not feeling too great and went to help a buddy with a repair job on a roof. Began having a slight pain in lower left mid-rift and just thought it was probably gas........it continued to worsen and we continued to work and within ten minutes was hurting a lot more. Told my friend I needed to go to hospital (for some reason I just knew) and fortunately we were only a couple of miles away. By the time we got there, I could barely walk and he had to help me into the ER. The nurse took one look at me and knew what was happening. They got me on the table and next thing I know.......I awakened. Nurse said you are a lucky man to be alive as you expired and have been gone for more than a minute. They used the paddles three times to bring me back and fortunately it worked. The quick thinking, knowledgeable nurse in ER gave me "the shot" which probably was the reason I am still here today. At that moment I swore to myself if I ever got off of that table I would never smoke another cigarette.....and I haven't after smoking for over 40 years.

Received a stent and it took approximately one year to even be able to do what I could before.....but still had and have same symptoms as always upon exertion. The doctor that treated me at time of attack said it had been a "long time" coming. Yet none of the doctor's I had been to previously found anything wrong.

I am doing quite well now actually and am so thankful there was a quick thinking nurse in the ER that day. Still have to take it really easy for the most part but try to exercise as much as I can. Just knowing what I used to be capable of physically and to suddenly lose the capacity to continue doing the same is quite depressing to say the least, but a lot better than not being around.

Please take your symptoms seriously and get checked out.........it could save your life! If you aren't satisfied with what one doctor says.... go to another......again.....it could save your life!

Hope this didn't bore you too much..........sorry for the long post. God Bless You All!

    Larry

Man I am soon tobe 56 and 3 yrs ago I started getting chest pain every time I exerted myself(walk more than 50-100 yrds and some times justed when laying and also when getting exited.0 My HMO after me complaining for months did a cardiac imaging and a stress type test told me they didn't find any thing wrong except 1 litle scar. Wel this kept getting worse and I thought mabe I had a acid type problem. Imoved to WV. to live with my Daughter and grand kids 18 mths ago started using my retired military insurance a yr ago last Fed they did a scope of my heart then put me on the table the next morning and did a 4x by pass. I am doing great now am stil a fat boy but figure it wasn't the fat that almost killed me but those lovely HMO doctors they are right up there with lawers and child molesters bent over for the almighty dollar. Thank God for there are still some real doctors out there though.
