[Ictalurus Punctatus]

Wondering if anyone 'round here ever fishes Haw River. I've procured a small boat that I can launch from a canoe access (I've been eyeing the one at Hwy 54). Any tips, or advice would be appreciated, but I've been wondering mainly about finding shad.

99.9 percent likely you will not catch any shad in a net on the haw unless you throw a net below 1 of the mill dams..........too scattered in the river............fished the haw since 1969......family still owns 2 tracts of land on the haw..1 just up from 54 and another tract 4 miles up..........plenty of channel cats and bull heads......a few flatheads but they havent overtaken the river ...yet..........mack
