Here are a couple pics I took of some bream - never used them for bait but they are pretty to look at.

Bait can be purty. I cant get myself to kill a pumpkinseed, but a gill I'd gladly hack up for bait. try using a black nosed dace in breeding colors in the spring. the trout go wild!!

Maybe that's why the fishing's been tough lately-the catfish are just laying there admiring my bait!

Yea. That's why I don't use crawdads any more because it makes me hungry. I think about steaming up those little mudbugs, and making a garlic butter sauce to dip them in. That's admiration.

I would have to agree, those red-belly bream and longear are pretty awesome looking fish. I have a baby pumpkinseed in my fish tank and it's just starting to really show its colors.

The gar really kill for them too so its the main bait when goin for gar.... sorry, haha.

Yes gar will go for anything. Fast fun action when they just sit below the surface not noticing you with your beautiful red-belly barbed bait.

The baits that I stop and admire the most are the ones that stayed out for 8 or 12 hours with a big 10/o gammakatsu hook in their tail or nose and fought like heck all night long, giving their all to call in a big flathead, only to fail. When its time to leave, I bring these baits back in and I try to release them gently. You know, not ripping the hook out. I figured they were called to do their duty and they served with distinction. They deserve to live to fight another day. If I had tiny purple hearts I'd pin one on each. There's nothing I admire more than heart.

Well there is 4 choices when you open a bucket of punch bait....

    A. RUN

    B. Quickly bait your hook and shut the lid :cool2:

    C. Stand there admiring that concoction of joy....

    D. Break out the crackers:crazy:

the picture of the one on a hook is pretty good, i usually admire my bait after it was successful, but i tell my minnows i'm sorry about whats gonna happen to them, but that is their purpose in life

Jon---I admire a Green Sunfish, and a Blugill daily. I have them in a 30 gallon aquarium in the living room. Not only are they purty, but they are fun to watch, especially at feeding time.

I agree they are downright pretty. One can admire the dickens out of them. But if you should find yourself giving them names when you catch them (Pete, Frank, Yost, Abe) that kinda thing, you should probably take up knitting.
