Does anyone know of a place to buy 300 - 350 grain hard cast ammo for a 45-70? I found a place online that sells 400 grain, but nothing lighter. Looking to buy ammo, not reloading components.

    Thanks

Before you purchase 45/70 ammo you better know which ammo you are buying. There is 2 types. One type is for the older 45/70's such as the trapdoor and ballard models. They require low pressure loads. These are labeled 45/70 Government loads.

Then there are the modern guns like the Marlin lever action that can take beefed up loads.

Midway would be my first search.

Beartooth Bullets has a 325 gr hard cast bullet for the 45-70. Oregon Trial Bullets has a 300gr and a 350gr hard cast bullet.

    Hope this helps.

I use Garrett hammerheads for hard cast bullets, but a super bullet is the Hornady leverrevolution in 325 grain. I kill big hogs with one shot on the regular with those hornadys. Good luck
