Hand size Blue Gills for bait

    Blue gills and gold fish the size of your hand are both good flathead bait fished on a carolina rig.

    Kevin, welcome to the BOC buddy. Try scraping a few scales off one side of your blue gills and see how you do catching some of the big cats. Don't scrape off too many scales though, you want your bait to live as long as possible. Scraping a few scales will release the amino acids into the water that attract the big boys.

    Kevin there are guys here in WV that use 2 lb small mouths for flathead bait.

    when i use bluegills i usually cut them up into pieces, but if they are about finger sized usually the best
