My best fishing partner ( my wife) and I spent Friday night fishing. These are the results of our efforts.

For a newbie, mind sharing how these were caught? Rod and reel, jugs, trotline? Bait? Depth? Thanks!

    BTW, nice catch!!

All caught on R&R, fishing tightline on the bottom, depth varied during the night from 15' to 3 ' as they moved into the shallows to feed.

Got them all on our own homemade bait.

1lb of hamburger (cheapest, most fat laden you can get)
1 small box of instant potatoes
1 small cube of velveeta cheese

Mix hamburger and potatoe flakes together
blend in cheese till mixture holds together, cheese will be mixed throughout in small chunks.
Keep refrigerated till ready to put on hook or it will get to mushy to use. Then form into a ball on the hook, I use #4 trebles with spring to hold it.

Fish with a tightline on the bottom and hold on to your rod. We usually don't catch much over 8 or 9 pounders with it, but it is excellent to get feeder size for a good fish fry.

To answer someone else, nope the wife didn't catch em all, only about half. Although she has been known to outfish me it doesn't happen often, and when it does it is just as much fun seeing her get the most.

Yep, it could double in a pinch for lunch.

But I much prefer the results in this pic. This is just a few of the fillets we got, ones on the left are ready to go in the oven for baking after they finish soaking in the marinade. The right side ones just came out of the deep fryer and ready to eat.

They do taste as good as they look too.
