Anyone have a good way of putting a gut pocket on a hook without coming off?

Get to a craft store or even walmart in the sewin section. They sell spools of elastic thread. Its beige and about a buck a roll. I use it on liver all the time and gut pockets. Just get the pocket on the hook as best as ya can and wrap the thread around it a few times. Works like a champ and ya can sling it a mile worry free.

    Walt,
You can use the thread like BG says or, if you cut closer to the backbone all the way to the head and then through the backbone and out you will have the gut pocket and head together. You can then put the hook through the tough part of the head or, if you want, you can cut the head just behind the gill flap. You will still have a good tough part in the top of what is left of the head to put you hook through...W
