Well let me say I had a fantastic night last night on the river. My 5yr old daughter wanted to go out fishing last night when I got home from work. Who am I to say no? We left about 6:30 and got in about 7:00 had bait at 7:30 and set up close to 8:00pm. We only planned on staying out till 10:00 but had to stretch it out to 10:45:wink: We marked some fish right off the channel ledge and set up. We had the radio playing and she was busy torturing the asain carp we had for bait. She had a 5 gallon bucket with 3-4 of them in there trying to grab them with my lip grippers. Well it kept her busy the whole night. About 9:55 I said we were going to pull out in 5 min. because we hadn't caught anything and only had one decent takedown that came off. Around 9:57 the outside rod got slammed HARD and line was shooting out like it was hooked to a bardge. The fight was on. I had her reel in the rod next to it while I fought the fish to give me some room. After about a 5-10 min battle we finally got it aboard. It weighed 48lb by my scale. After talking to Ryan on the phone later he reminded me that my scale weighs light by 2-3 lbs. I put it around 50 +/-1 pound. Let me tell you it was one of the most memorable nights I have had on the river. Not only from catching the fish as I have cought bigger but having my daughter with me made it that much better. All I can say is get those kids out with you! you won't regret it.
