I was wondering where the first set of rapids/riffles are on the GMR off the Ohio river? I generally run up the GMR from the ohio in my 20 ft jon and have access to a small kicker motor so I can run real shallow (1 ft) but I havent really gone very far up the river and was just wondering. I was thinking that the first set of rapids would hold some stripers or white bass would like to tangle with a nice one for the fun of it.

    Thanks
    Bill

If you go up the GMR until the where the whitewater river pours in to it I know a lot of people fish for white bass around there. I have also caught a couple decent strippers actually in the whitewater river. This is usually earlier in the season though.

I doubt this is the first set of rapids, but in the Ross/Colerain area there is a large batch of them. I've personally pulled good sized white bass out of this spot.
