Wasn't God smiling on the Upstate Saturday? 60+ degrees, sunshine, and the cats were biting. Drifting live herring in 40 to 60 feet all morning. Caught a total of 10 cats, an 8, 12, 14 pound, several smaller fish, (all blues but 1 small flathead) and then just when I decided to pack it in, number 3 rod buried the tip and water and went to singing! After a few heart pounding minutes my new personal best was on board. A nice fat 41" long blue. I've weighed it on 3 different scales and got 3 different weights. My scale, a $5 dial scale that was full of water said 36 pounds, another guy at the landing had a cheap scale that said 32 pounds, and my brother in law's scale said 42 pounds. Take your pick. No matter what it weighed, it sure was fun. The church had asked me to bring them some catfish for stew, so I did. Looking back, I wished I had released the big boy. Ahh, the hind sight.:confused2: I would like to thank Scott at SC Backwoods for supplying the bait. Very freindly service and guided me in over the cell phone after I got lost.:embarassed: I will try to post pictures afterwhile, I've got to go to a meeting now. By the way, the water temp was about 52 degrees.
