I have a fishing spot that is grass bottom at a river.
There is a plant upstream that lets water run and it send's grass downstream
bad. My bait will fill up with heavy grass and you will think its a fish but it
will be 15 pounds of grass. My question is Is there anyway I can avoid this.
I 'm fishing on the bottom.

Only thing I can think of is try fishing with a slip-bobber to keep the bait just above the grass...good luck

slip bobber unless the current is too strong.

You probably already tried this but how about those "weedless" style hooks? Or do they just get hooked up too? maybe a different spot or better yet, use a slip bobber and set the depth to just above the point your having trouble? I dunno. I tried.. LOL
