    Grandma

From the cookies, to the cakes, and back to the bread.
Over the years, all the encouraging words, you put in my head.

Growing up you were such a special part of my life.
I’m really looking forward to the day I introduce you to my wife.

Since I was young, Your love, and compassion I always have received.
I thank God. You were my father’s, mother. The night I was conceived.

In times of need, or when I just need a friend. I can always count on you.
To pick me up when I am down, and to find courage in everything I do.

I guess there isn’t much more left to say.
I just wanted you to know "I Love You" and, think about you everyday.

Thank you for sharing this, Garrett... I still miss my Grandma and she's been gone for 7 years. We were blessed to have her with us for almost 97 years though and that was a great gift!

Keep writing, brother. Looking forward to reading more.

    Hope,
I know what you mean. I was really close to her and we lost her unexpectedly three years ago. One of the toughest things I have had to face in this short little life of mine. I think the hardest part was watching my father walk around lost for so long. Grandma had Polio and Dad lost his father 30 years ago. So Dad was always going by or calling her daily.
As foolish as it may sound, I actually decided not to re-enlist in the military after 6 years because I wanted to spend some time with her before the time was gone. What an excellent decision I made looking back now.

Garrett, You made a wise decision indeed. Our plans might seem like the sensible, practical thing to do, but when our hearts lead us to set all that aside in order to cherish those we love... well, it's always wisest to listen and follow. Then there are no regrets :smile2:
