Don't have all the details or pics yet but my oldest granddaughter called me up at work here in Alaska and tried to tell me she had just gotten her first deer. She was squealing and talking so fast I just about couldn't understand her. Boy ws she excited! Paw Paw was pretty proud too! I get to go home next Wednesday so we should have fresh venison for supper courtesy of my granddaughter. By the way she is 10 years old. It's her second year hunting.

Great to hear another woman hunter is joining the ranks. Tell her "way to go girl" and give her my congrats as well. I know you're just as proud as you can be.
Our 13yr old grandson had his first "miss" yesterday. He got his first deer 2 yrs ago; last year he got 2 deer. Yesterday he was wanting to get a big ole doe. He first saw her @ 200 yds, but Papaw Buddy convinced him to wait til she got closer. By the time she was @ 80 yds, he told him okay. He shot, & missed her clean. They said she had 2 yearlings with her, & they all just stood there looking toward the stand. When they ejected the spent casing, it hit the floor of the stand & made a clanking sound. Then momma & her babies just trotted off, waving bye-bye with those pretty white flags!! He was pretty bummed out, but we assured him it happens to everyone. I think he just got too nervous watching her come in.

Sounds like grandpa is going to have to get a larger hat size. I know this makes your head swell. Congrats to your granddaughter.
