We had that exact thing happen here to lake Montgomery 2 years ago, dead fish every where, the size of some of the bass and cats made me cry to see all that loss. The experts said the pumps stopped working. But...they restocked with small fish and fingerlings. Posted no fishing signs, people sneaked around and fished anyway plus a way over population of turtles ate them.
Now its just a beautiful empty lake sitting there except for the turtles....

Man that really stinks, I've seen the same thing happen to a small pay pond down here, the algae even killed their 104lb bluecat named bubba..... and come to think of it, it was pretty close in proximity to some farmland.... never really occured to me that the farms were feeding the algae.... if that really is the case then we might have more than a few lakes in trouble, Indian lake definatly comes to mind, since it's right smack in the middle of Amish country.
