Went out with some cut bait for the first time and landed a 10lb blue cat. Good fight for a 10lb cat. Got him on a green sunfish head. Good wind blowing in our face but I knew if we waited something would come. You can tell by the pic after waiting 2 1/2 hours I was cold. My buddy Jared helped me with the net. Here is a pic of his Blue cat out of the Kansas just a week before I caught mine.

Good work bud, but I think that one in the first pic is a channel though, either way it's a great fish! Heck, 10lbs channel > 10lbs blue anyway:wink:!

Congrats on a great fish Shawn. But I agree with Garen the picture of the first fish looks like a channel to me. But congrats on a good night of fishing.

I am glad someone brought the channel thing up because when I caught him he looked like a blue cat but also looked like a channel. My grandpa said it looked like a channel. The lip on the bottom was longer than the upper lip which made it sound like a blue cat. I think it looks like a channel in the picture. Maybe it is a hybrid blue. I am really going to be mad if it is a channel.:smile2: Also I have been gone for a longtime because I play alot of slowpitch softball and the season just got done. So back to fishing.:eek:oooh:

I havent had the best of luck here lately but the long wait is worth it. When we got the fish out of the net and was looking at him he looked so much like a blue cat. I guess I cant tell the difference unless he is a real light blue. Either way it was a fun fight after sitting for 2+ hours.

I think the best way to tell on one that size is the noticable hump between the head and dorsal fin.

I would say def. a channel. But that just makes it an even better fish. Nice!

There is supposed to be a dead shure way of telling the difference
between a channel cat and a blue. It has to do with the number of rays
in one of the ventral fins. The blue has a few more than a channel cat.
I've never used it because I don't like taking my shoes off to count up
to twenty. That and the damn fish keeps wriggling an' I lose count.
